- Read official guidance
- Practice the concept
- Record limitations
- Use authorized access
Use this sequence to organize the investigation. Confirm the details in the affected platform and campaign.
A vendor-neutral simulator can help you reason about a campaign, but it should not be presented as a replica of Google Ad Manager. Be precise about the distinction when selecting training and when describing your experience to employers.
Google's account setup requirements are documented separately. Review the linked setup guidance if you plan to create an account, rather than assuming a practice site grants access to Google's platform.
Practice the skills that transfer
- Translate dates, goals, inventory, and frequency requirements from a brief.
- Check whether a requested creative size matches the associated asset.
- Distinguish request availability, eligibility, selection, and rendering.
- Calculate pacing and identify the evidence needed for recovery.
- Prepare an incident update with verification and uncertainty.
Identify what the simulator cannot establish
Simulation does not demonstrate familiarity with every current menu, permission, report, line-item feature, or production integration in Google Ad Manager. It also does not grant certification or account access.
Maintain a list of platform-specific questions for later study. For example: where would this diagnostic appear, what does this report count, and which account permission would be required to perform the correction?
Combine documentation with a concrete task
Choose a delivery problem and read the relevant official documentation. Write down the concept it explains, then test your understanding with fictional evidence. Finally, explain which part would need confirmation in the actual platform.
- Read the delivery diagnostic guidance.
- Attempt an eligibility exercise without the answer.
- Compare your diagnosis with the evidence.
- Record a platform-specific follow-up question.
Create a small practice record
Use a fictional 300x250 request with a mismatched associated creative. Record the symptom, requested size, asset size, diagnosis, proposed correction, and verification. Then write what the sample does not tell you about other traffic.
For calculations, record the formula and timezone assumptions alongside the result. A reviewer should be able to reproduce your work without a screenshot of a real account.
Use authorized access when it becomes available
When an employer or training provider supplies an account, follow its permissions and testing rules. Learn how the conceptual checks map to that account's actual tools. Do not experiment on a live client campaign merely to complete a training task.
In applications, describe your work as vendor-neutral AdOps practice informed by official documentation. Separately list any actual platform responsibilities you have performed.
Choose your next practice area
After a basic delivery case, practice a reporting-window discrepancy or a pacing recovery calculation. Add complexity gradually while keeping a clear explanation of what each piece of evidence proves.
The goal is to arrive at real-platform training with a useful investigation method and a list of specific questions.
