CTV and Video AdOps interview practice
Validate VAST, SSAI and CSAI request paths, app authorization signals, player support, ad pods and video measurement.
Operating workflow
- Confirm whether the request path is client-side or server-side and which SDK signals it requires.
- Resolve the VAST chain and validate media, duration, API framework and tracking macros.
- Reproduce playback using the affected player, device, app and pod constraints.
- Match request, bid, impression and quartile evidence before changing production.
Evidence you inspect
- Raw VAST XML
- Wrapper chain timing
- IMA or PAL signals
- Ad pod decisions
- Player error logs
Skills demonstrated
- VAST and VMAP
- IMA or PAL signals
- Ad pod QA
- Player-level logs
Practice interview questions
These original scenarios help you practice explaining evidence and decisions. Use them to prepare, then test your reasoning in Flight Lab.
A video ad works in a tester but fails in the app. What evidence matters?
Reproduce on the affected device and app version. Compare integration signals, VAST redirects, supported media, player errors, and timing. A successful generic test does not establish compatibility with the production player.
Common mistake: Closing the incident after a desktop test succeeds.
A break has bids but still contains a gap. What could explain it?
Compare the remaining break time and ad count with candidate durations and configured separation rules. Inspect rejection evidence and the final sequence. Verify playback and tracking after correcting the specific constraint or metadata.
Common mistake: Equating returned bids with candidates that can fit the remaining pod.
Review your practice attempt
Explain the impact, the evidence that supports your diagnosis, the correction, and the check that confirms recovery. State what remains uncertain and what you would communicate to the campaign owner.
